Zach Winkler, M.D.
Interventional Pain Doctor, Capitol Pain Institute

Dr. Winkler is dual board-certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and joined Capitol Pain Institute in Colorado Springs in 2025. A Colorado Springs native, he’s excited to return to his hometown and provide compassionate, state-of-the-art pain care to the local community.
Dr. Winkler earned his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry with honors from the University of Tulsa. His passion for biology and chemistry, along with meaningful volunteer experiences in community clinics during college, inspired him to pursue a career in medicine. He attended medical school at the University of Colorado, where he conducted research on critical illness and received a merit scholarship for academic excellence.
He went on to complete a surgical internship at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, followed by an anesthesiology residency and pain medicine fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Before joining CPI, Dr. Winkler practiced at Cahaba Pain and Spine Care in Birmingham, where he gained extensive experience in advanced pain management techniques. He is committed to creating personalized, effective, and timely treatment plans tailored to each individual’s needs and goals.
Personal
Outside of work, Dr. Winkler enjoys hiking, rock climbing, traveling, and homebrewing. He and his wife are raising their three children in Colorado Springs and look forward to building strong connections in the community for years to come.
