Dr. Gretchen Crook is a Board-Certified Family Physician with 23 years of experience in primary care practice within a multi-specialty group in Austin, Texas. With a commitment to comprehensive and patient-centered care, Dr. Crook brings a wealth of knowledge to the Capitol Pain Institute team. As a Clinic Physician for North and South Austin, she will work closely with the interventional pain management physicians to develop customized treatment plans that address both the physical and emotional components of chronic pain.

Dr. Crook completed her Residency in Family Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine, Gainesville, and earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the same institution. She also holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Before joining Capitol Pain Institute, Dr. Crook practiced at Austin Regional Clinic (ARC), where she most recently provided outpatient after-hours and urgent care services. Prior to that, she managed a patient panel of over 2500 as a primary care physician and served as the Family Medicine Department representative on the Executive Board from 2012-2014.

In her commitment to patient-centered care, she is also expanding her ability to communicate with patients, and is developing her Spanish language skills through ongoing medical and conversational Spanish courses.

Publications & Recognition

Alongside her clinical practice, Dr. Crook is deeply involved in clinical research. She has served as Medical Director for ARC Clinical Research since 2024 and as Principal Investigator since 2019, overseeing Phase 2 and 3 studies on vaccines, medications, and devices in diverse fields such as cardiology, endocrinology, infectious disease, and primary care.
