This condition is characterized by muscle pain that is wide spread involving fatigue and joint stiffness. It is a neurosensory condition and is chronic but the pain from it can go and come and may move around the body. Often times, fibromyalgia is unrecognized or misdiagnosed and can become complicated by either anxiety or mood disorders. It is thought that pain sensations are amplified by the way that pain signals are processed by the brain resulting in fibromyalgia. Sometimes symptoms begin after surgery, infection, trauma, or psychological stress that is significant. In other cases, the symptoms may accumulate gradually over a period of time without a triggering event.
