Dr. Gretchen Crook has always been dedicated to helping patients find relief from chronic pain. She decided to move from family practice to pain management to make a bigger difference. Now, she finds great satisfaction in offering effective, minimally invasive treatments that help people get back to their daily activities more quickly. With a strong understanding of the challenges faced by those living with chronic pain, Dr. Crook is excited to use her skills to improve her patients’ quality of life.

Dr. Crook is a Board-Certified Family Physician with 23 years of experience in primary care at a multi-specialty group in Austin, Texas. Committed to patient-centered care, she brings valuable knowledge to the Capitol Pain Institute team. Serving North and South Austin, Dr. Crook works closely with pain management specialists to create personalized treatment plans that address both the physical and emotional aspects of chronic pain.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr. Crook has devoted the past nine years to clinical research. Since 2024, she has served as Medical Director for ARC Clinical Research and has been a Principal Investigator since 2019. Her research has included Phase 2 and 3 studies on vaccines, medications, and medical devices across various fields, including cardiology, endocrinology, infectious disease, and primary care.

Personal

Dedicated to enhancing her patient communication skills, Dr. Crook is actively learning Spanish through ongoing medical and conversational courses. She has a passion for languages and is also gradually learning Korean, inspired by her dream to visit Korea, explore its historic sites featured in K-dramas, and attend a BTS concert. Her hobbies include listening to music, watching drama series, and volunteering with community organizations such as Austin Public Schools. She enjoys cooking for family and friends, and spending her free time reading biographies and fiction.
